A Smile, "Thanks, Dad!" 02/19/2010
Today Matthew hung out with me at school. He went to a spirit assembly for Samantha where she received an award. After the assembly we stopped into a kindergarten classroom of my friend Lisa who will be Matthew's teacher next year. He danced, sang and had a fun time with her kindergartners and my sixth graders. Also in the fray was one of my Dream Team moms who is a big help making my crazy ideas reality. Matthew made himself at home in my classroom drawing, playing and having a fun time as my kids doted over him. Matthew enjoyed a snack that the kids picked up for him before we headed off to another assembly, this time a Pep Rally for the middle school. He was a trooper sitting for 45 minutes watching kids sing, dance and receiving awards. As the day continued it was more of the same coloring, drawing and enjoying the kids dote over him. The best part for me was when I would look over at him and see the biggest smile as he told students to be quiet and not talk, or giving them directions. A SMILE that told me keeping him with me and not sending him to his preschool for the day was worth it. A SMILE that shows memories he will have for time to come. A SMILE that said, "Thanks, Dad!"
